Blue Ice Amsonia or Blue Ice Blue Star

AmsoniaAmsonia ‘Blue Ice’ is a clump forming perennial that produces beautiful lavender- blue, star-like flowers in April and May.  This plant is 15″-18″ high and 18″-24″wide with narrow, willow-shaped bright green foliage that turns an attractive shade of yellow in the fall.  Even after the flowers have faded, the unique foliage maintains its bright green color and adds a wonderful texture to the garden.  When massed together, the dense mounding form resembles a small shrub.  This perennial prefers full sun to light shade.  If grown in too much shade the plant will open up and appear floppy.  It is truly a low- maintenance, trouble free plant that will thrive in almost any garden.
